”We are back and we are ready to blow your mind with this new Meeting Series Interview we realized couple weeks ago. We really don’t want to spoil anything about it but on the other hand it’s also important that people would be able to know what they’re getting themselves into. What it is sure, is the fact that this video will make you smile, happy, nostalgic and with the urgent need to start digging into old stuff from your childhood you’re probably saving up in the attic.

Watch the video below to get more informations regarding this delightful museum-shop and let Bobby explain to you how he combines the selling and collecting of retro-games with haircuts and the business of an hair salon, the process on the realization of his passions and dreams.”

A partir de hoy ya no veré las revistas hechas para iPad de la misma manera. ¿Puede ser visualmente tan perfecta? ¿Puedo tenerle tanta envidia y querer rediseñar hoy mismo ARTNAU entero, enterito?

“Katachi Magazine is created exclusively for the iPad.
There’s no print siblings to hold it back, no foster parents to relate
to; only the tablet and the magazine.“

Katachi provides a glimpse into the future of this medium, using touch technology as a key component in communicating strong editorial features.

Katachi’s design and editorial direction is a collection of East and West, modern and classic. We weave these pieces together, reflecting today’s complex world through a graphic, colorful and most importantly, interactive approach.

Origami Engine™ is the driving force that powers Katachi. A proprietary software suite built from the ground up, Origami Engine uses the full power of the iPad to create stunning interactive experiences.

Katachi is an international selection of design, people and business. The magazine chronicles global design culture, individuals who transform society, and the ideas that fuel our collective imagination.

Quite the pitch.

Simple thing is: Katachi is for the curious at heart. The searchers. Those who try twice even though they’re told not to. The people brave enough to look to others for inspiration but forges their own path. The ones who know what they want, but are open to new ideas. This magazine is for you.

You, and in particular your finger, is to us what paper is to a print magazine; the most important asset. You’re a master of touch, you’ve been touching stuff since you were born. To create a product that gives you the best possible experience with something you’re a master of meant we needed new tools. That’s why we created Origami Engine; an easy and powerful desktop tool for creating interactive publications. Our hope is that the simplicity of this code-less publishing process, coupled with a few grains of imagination, will spark a small digital publishing revolution. Do contact us if you feel like shaking things up.

Katachi Media collaborated with Andrés Torresi to create a typeface superfamily – targeted mainly for the iPad, but also for web and print. An intense project between Andrés in Argentina, and Katachi in Norway, took place over 14 months. The result so far is a serif and sans-serif, two of in total seven weights of the Katachi typeface. In the coming months we’ll be adjusting these two, as well as add the last five weights.

Download the launch issue of Katachi (including live text!) at ktch.co/bw to see how it works.

Radio radiation can’t be seen by the human eye and besides the scientific visualisations, there isn’t any visual language for this invisible electro-magnetic field.
However, the aim of the project should be to collect as many different kinds of visualisations as possible and give radiation a dynamic face.
The project was realized with github.com/mrdoob/three.js/ and the superformula for the course “radiation – new ways of visualization” under the direction of Danijela Djokic at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam.

Early last year we were experimenting with product photography for a retail client pitch. We wondered how we could we use cinematic techniques to explore product imagery. What would happen if instead of a single product image or a linear video, we could flick and drag our way through time and the optical qualities of lenses? What if we had control of the depth of field, focus, lighting, exposure, frame-rate or camera position through tap and swipe?

The Design Museum Collection is made up by over 2000 objects that range from the early Modernism of the 1900s to the cutting edge of contemporary design. The Collection tells the history of design in mass production and includes furniture, lighting, domestic appliances and communications technology. The Collection is an important record of the key designs which have shaped the modern world. Following a process of reviewing the museum’s Collection, as well as its handling collection and archive, for the first time in five years, highlights from the Collection were on display for the exhibition This is Design in 2011.
